Remember the twins who were joined together, Abby and Brittany Hensel? All of them are grown up and have a broader family
Today reported that Abby has been married for several years, tying the knot with Josh Bowling in 2021. The twins now live in Minnesota with Josh, who describes himself on his Facebook page as a “father, veteran, nurse.”

Twins who are two-headed, conjoined twins are born fused at the torso and remain that way as adults. They have separate spinal cords, brains, hearts, and other organs, but they share those located below the waist. Their left side is controlled by Brittany, and their right side by Abby.
Since graduating from Bethel University in 2012, the twins have worked as teachers at an elementary school in their home state.
As teens, the sisters opened up about their lives, but they’ve kept their love lives private and stayed out of the spotlight for a decade.
March 7, 1990 was the day Abby and Brittany were born. Their mother, Patty Hensel, explained in the 2007 documentary Extraordinary People:
Twins Sharing the Body that she only wanted to give birth when she was born, based on her observations of the baby. When Abby and Brittany were born, they had three arms, but one was removed because it was unusable.
The couple told their wives that Abby and Brittany were best friends from the time they were infants. The parents chose to keep the girls conjoined because they were able to live a full, healthy life together, even though separation may have been possible as they matured.
“We never wanted to break up,” Abby and Brittany said in a 2007 documentary. Because otherwise we wouldn’t be able to do the things we do; playing softball, meeting new people, running.
A singular bond is a singular bond.
When curating an email or online message, Abby and Brittany often know what the other is going to say, according to the 2007 documentary.
In fact, they often refer to themselves as one person, unless they disagree. “Abby says” or “Brittany says” will be said in those cases.
They also now share singular social media accounts, which are private and mostly inactive, which are private and mostly inactive.
Abby and Brittany understand the curiosity—up to a point.
The curiosity people have about their lives is something Abby and Brittany have been expressing for a long time.
They’re still irritated by the way people react to them in public, especially when they get snapped by strangers without their permission.
When people take pictures of us, we absolutely hate it. They’ll be embarrassed if we don’t throw a fit about it.
Mike and Patty Hensel did not allow unnecessary tests to be done on their daughters while doctors were curious about their health and growing process as children.
Brittany and Abby also said that the doctor’s office was their least favorite place to go at the time.
The family wants to treat them like everyone else, even though they’re different, family doctor Joy Westerdahl said in 2007. I have to take into consideration the wishes of the family not to get too involved.
Abby has a blended family.
For nurse and senior Josh Bowling, Abby has another member of the family: 8-year-old daughter Isabella. The couple got married on November 13, 2021.
The news was shocking, but Abby and Brittany have always been thinking about starting a family.
“Yeah, we’re going to be moms,” Brittany said in Joined for Life: Abby & Brittany Turn 16. We haven’t thought about how being mothers will work yet.
Their first venture into reality television.
Since Abby & Brittany aired in 2012, the two women have maintained their privacy. The one-season reality series followed the young women as they graduated from college and entered adulthood.

Life is out of the spotlight.
After college, Abby and Brittany started working as teachers. When they started hiring, they said they did not receive a salary but were given separate contracts with their partners’ salaries.
They currently teach fifth grade together at an elementary school in Minnesota, where they currently teach fifth grade together.
“Math and science is kind of my strong point,” Abby explained on an episode of Abby & Brittany. “Where Brittany is more focused on the language arts, reading—stuff like that.”
